Orana camspite is owned by Girl Guides Tasmania and has been operational since 1967.  Orana is situated approximately 20 klm from Hobart on the Eastern Shore and is about 10 minutes from Hobart airport.  It is established on 31 acres of natural bushland with plentiful bird life and native fauna.  The property is situated on beautiful Roches Beach with direct access to the sheltered beach frontage.  Orana is available to schools, clubs and families.

Orana (meaning: welcome) aims to exceed your expectations by guaranteeing and delivering exceptional quality professional school camps, group accommodation, conferences, training/corporate venues and specialised programs. Our guests continue to comment on our friendly and approachable volunteers, user friendly booking system, stringent risk management plans and practices, and the quality of the Volunteers. Orana operates as a not for profit camp and it is with Volunteer support that the camp continues to grow.


Accommodation and Facilities
The site offers a range of accommodation and facilities to cater for many different needs.  Whether your group is large or small, staying indoors or camping outside you can be accommodated for.  A volunteer caretaker lives on the property and can assist in emergencies.

Malunna Camp House

This building consists of a commercial kitchen, large hall dining room with a wood heater, conference room, male and female amenities, specially designed disabled access and will sleep 63 people comfortably.
Malunna is self-catering and is equipped with cooking, eating and seating facilities for 100.  There is a commercial refrigerator, small freezer, bain marie, automatic urn, toaster, commercial 6 burner dual fuel stove and oven.  The laundry has a coin operated washing machine, dryer and iron.  The conference room has a white board and audio visual equipment including video projector large screen, DVD player and a lectern and electric overhead heating.

Cooinda Camp House

Cooinda is the original home on the property, it sleeps 24 in 3 bunk rooms and also has kitchen/dining room with dual fuel stove, refrigerator and freezer, automatic urn and toaster, lounge room with wood heater, laundry with washing machine , bathroom and there is also a separate shower and toilet block only a short distance away.

The Barn

The Barn can be hired for the day or can be used for a base when camping and is included when hiring the whole campsite.  It has a barbeque, electric urn, refrigerator, tables, chairs and benches and a wood heater and is suitable for groups of 60-80.  Crockery, cutlery or cooking utensils are not provided.  There is a small toilet block nearby.

The Chapel

There is a consecrated open air chapel on site and it is suitable for weddings, christenings and church services.  Rustic seating for 40 is provided.

Ensuite Area

Two toilets and two showers; an area suitable for camping, caravans and camper vans.

Onsite Facilities

A fitness course, challenge valley, outdoor gym equipment, cricket pitch and children's playground are all located on site as well as a safe beach for water activities.  The beach has wheelchair access.

A proforma Risk Assessment  outlining known risks associated with the site is currently under review and will uploaded once completed.
