Information for Guides
- Talk to your Leader and make sure your unit is going to be attending the Regatta
- Once your Leader has registered your unit, agree to the Conditions of Registration for the 2022 Regatta, fill in the On-line registration form and pay your Regatta fee. Ask your parent/guardian to do this on your behalf if you wish. It is cheaper to register before 13 December, but you can register after Christmas
- Let your Leader know you have registered – this is important.
Information for Leaders
If you have been to previous Regattas, you will see that the registration process is different this time. Guides register individually on-line and Leaders must register themselves and their unit before Guides can register.
Leader registration opens in October. Please try to register your unit before registration for youth members opens in October by filling in the On-line registration form and paying your fee. As part of the registration process, all participants will be asked to agree to the Conditions of Registration for the 2022 Regatta.
For Leaders who have not been to the Regatta before – welcome! There is a lot of help available. You don’t need to bring boats or have expertise in water activities. Many events are shore based and you can share equipment with other units or troops. Participants can ‘have-a-go’ at patrol boat rowing, kayaking or learn to sail a Pacer dinghy – the Regatta makes craft available and provides experienced help. Talk to other Leaders who know the ropes, or send me (Lyn Muir) an email - [email protected]
When your Guides register on-line, ensure they let you know. You will also be sent lists of those registered from your unit as a check.
Information for parents and other adults staying at the Regatta site
The Regatta is held each March long weekend at Snug Beach and oval (35 minutes south of Hobart). Parents and other adults associated with a Guide unit enjoy the Regatta and contribute to its success by participating in some events (if you wish) and helping to run others. You can camp in the Regatta grounds with the Regatta participants. Register on-line by filling in the On-line registration form. As part of the registration process, everyone will be asked to agree to the Conditions of Registration for the 2022 Regatta.
If staying overnight, you must have a Working with Vulnerable People card. Adults who are not members of the Guide Association must fill in the Volunteer Non-member Registration Form (TADM.38) which is part of your on-line registration. You can be catered for if you wish or you may choose to self-cater.
Rather than camping on the oval, you may wish to stay overnight at the Snug Caravan Park – but you would need to book this soon – or make alternative arrangements. Guide parents and other adults can also camp at The Lea near Kingston. Contact The Lea Caretaker to make a booking - 0417590986 or [email protected]
Notes on catering
Catering for the 2022 Regatta will include seven meals: cereal and cooked breakfast on Sunday and Monday mornings; lunch on each of the three days and a three-course dinner on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Those who request vegetarian meals or the gluten-free or gluten/dairy-free options when registering will be issued with a different colour wristband. Participants will not be served a special diet unless we have been notified of this prior to the Regatta and they have the correct wristband.
If, because of a medical condition, a participant cannot eat the food provided by the caterers, then they will have to self-cater. Preparing and serving meals efficiently and quickly means that we are not able to offer endless variations on the food offered. Leaders, if you would like a copy of the menu before the event, then request one by emailing [email protected]
Conditions of Registration for the 2022 Regatta
Participants (or parents on behalf of youth members) must agree to the following Conditions of Entry before being able to register for this event.
- I will not attend the Regatta if I have cold or flu-like symptoms: runny nose, sore throat, fever
- I will immediately inform my leaders or co-leaders if I have any cold like or gastro like symptoms
- I will adhere to the Covid requirements in place during the event. These are likely to be regular handwashing, using hand sanitiser, using Tas App when required, regularly wiping down shared items, maintaining social distancing and/or wearing a mask if needed
- I understand that all areas used for the Regatta are alcohol free sites
- I understand that youth members must remain on areas designated as part of the Regatta once they arrive onsite until the Regatta close
- I have read and understand the Regatta Refund policy
Refund policy
Regatta registrations close on 18 February, 2022. Units and districts advising a drop in numbers by 11 February will generally be refunded 100%, and if advised by 18 February there will generally be a 50% refund. Requests for refunds after this date should be in writing or by phoning Lyn Muir [email protected] or 0429 824 079. Refunds are offered only for unforeseen circumstances and each application is assessed individually.
If the 2022 Regatta has to be cancelled due to State requirements (eg Covid 19 health concerns) or an unforeseen event such as bushfire or excessive rain, refunds will depend on the timing of the cancellation. If no deposits have been paid by the Committee for services, a full refund will be given, otherwise there will be a proportional reduction.
Covid 19 and Refunds
Registered participants, volunteers or visitors are not to attend the Regatta with cold or flu-like symptoms. If a participant has to pull out in the week leading into the Regatta due to cold like symptoms, they can apply for a refund of 80% upon producing evidence of a Covid-19 test or a GP letter. If a participant develops cold and/or flu like symptoms during the Regatta, arrangements will be made for them to go home and to get tested. A refund does not normally apply to someone leaving the Regatta due to illness or injury.
Other information for Leaders
Youth members under the age of 18 must have at least one adult for every 10 youth members or part thereof camping with them. Participating youth members must be at least 10 years old at the time of the Regatta.
The Committee tries to allocate duties fairly and, of course, a lot of help is required to run an event where many activities are occurring concurrently. Endeavour to have parents available during the regatta for the duties and security shifts allocated to your unit.
Please contact me, Lyn Muir, by emailing [email protected] if you have any queries about registering for the Regatta. See you at Snug!
